Community update -- August 2025
Repoly has commenced proceedings in the NSW Land and Environment Court related to the Independent Planning Commission's refusal of SSD9409987 and will update the community and key stakeholders as the matter is heard.
Our facility is located within the Southern Highlands Innovation Park (SHIP), a designated industrial zone that, while situated within the Sydney Water Catchment Area, operates under strict environmental and regulatory oversight.
As a company, we are fully committed to zero wastewater discharge. All wastewater generated onsite is treated internally through our own dedicated treatment system. In the rare event that discharge is necessary, only fully treated water would be released — and only into the Council-managed industrial wastewater system, never into local waterways. This ensures that no part of our operations will ever pose a risk to Sydney’s drinking water supply.
In terms of air emissions, we have invested in advanced air purification and odor control systems. Independent environmental assessments have confirmed that all emissions are well within compliance, in many cases significantly below the regulatory thresholds.
Plastic waste is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time. However, when managed properly, post-consumer plastics are not waste — they are a valuable resource.
By recycling plastic instead of sending it to landfill or incineration, we help:
- Reduce dependence on virgin fossil-based raw materials
- Conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Minimize pollution to land and water
- Support circular economy goals and ESG outcomes
Through lifecycle-based analysis, our project has been assessed to reduce an estimated 130,967 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, compared to conventional disposal pathways. This is equivalent to removing over 28,000 cars from the road each year.
In addition to our environmental benefits, our facility will contribute to the local economy by:
- Establishing an on-site education and demonstration centre to promote sustainability awareness
- Hosting an R&D hub for innovation in recycling technologies
- Creating local job opportunities across operations, administration, research, and community engagement
- Delivering a landscaped, garden-style facility that blends in with its surroundings
- Stimulating broader industrial and service activity in the Southern Highlands region
We believe in working transparently, responsibly, and collaboratively with our community. This project is not only about technology and recycling — it’s about building a better, cleaner, and more sustainable future together.
We sincerely thank all those who support our vision and welcome constructive engagement from all sectors of the community.
